Trumpet Concerto in D Major by Laue is a bright and cheerful Baroque concerto in three movements, presented in a modern edition for trumpet and piano. This attractive work combines lively musical passages with the elegance and character of the Baroque period, offering trumpet players an enjoyable alternative to the more familiar classical concertos.

This edition includes separate solo parts for Trumpet in D and Piccolo Trumpet in A, together with a piano reduction for accompaniment. The choice of solo parts provides flexibility for performers, making the concerto suitable for study, rehearsals, recitals and concert performances.

Previously little known, this first-rate concerto has been made more widely accessible through this modern edition. Its three contrasting movements offer opportunities to explore Baroque phrasing, articulation and musical expression while developing the technical control required for performing music of this period.

Reviewing the concertos by Laue and Luigi Otto, Music Teacher magazine praised them as delightful alternatives to the established trumpet concerto repertoire, highlighting their value as stepping stones towards the celebrated concertos of Haydn and Hummel.
