Trinity College London Cello Sight Reading Grades 6-8 provides a carefully structured and progressive approach to developing advanced sight-reading skills for cello students preparing for Trinity College London examinations at Grades 6 to 8.

The book is organised into ten lessons for each grade, with each lesson focusing on a specific aspect of sight reading. Clear, practical guidance is provided throughout, including general sight-reading advice and tips specifically designed for cellists working towards the higher grades.

Each lesson contains four or five preparatory exercises followed by a duet, helping students develop confidence, rhythmic accuracy and ensemble sight-reading skills. Although duet playing is not required in the examinations, these pieces provide valuable opportunities to practise reading music alongside another player. Each duet reinforces the musical ideas introduced in the preceding exercises, consolidating learning and developing greater fluency.

Official Trinity specimen sight-reading tests are included at the end of each grade section, allowing students to put their developing skills into practice and become familiar with the examination format and demands of the higher grades.
