Traditional Irish Music Karen Tweed's Irish Choice is a collection of 93 traditional Irish session tunes selected and arranged by virtuoso piano accordion player Karen Tweed. Bringing together some of her personal favourites, the book offers an insight not only into the tunes themselves, but also into Karen's distinctive approach to playing and interpreting traditional music.

The collection includes timeless reels, jigs, hornpipes, polkas and slip jigs, with Karen's versions carefully transcribed and accompanied by her choice of chords. Alongside established favourites are plenty of tunes offering a greater challenge, making this a collection that players can continue to explore as their repertoire and experience develop.

An important feature of the book is Karen's own commentary. Personal thoughts, hints, tips, anecdotes and illustrations accompany the music, providing an insight into her relationship with the tunes and her broader experience of Irish traditional music.

Although Karen learned and developed these versions on the piano accordion, these are not specifically piano accordion arrangements. They are interpretations of traditional Irish session tunes and are suitable for all traditional melody instruments. The settings are not intended as definitive versions; instead, they provide a starting point from which musicians can adapt and develop the tunes to suit their own instrument and individual playing style.

The book also features a foreword by Phil Cunningham, photographs, a discography and numerous illustrations, including artwork by Karen herself.
