O'Carolan for Everyone brings together 55 tunes by the celebrated Irish harper and composer Turlough O'Carolan, arranged by Keith Hinchliffe for guitar, keyboard, instrumental duet and ensemble playing.

The arrangements are built around an easy-to-intermediate guitar part, approximately Grades 4 5, while remaining flexible enough to be used by a variety of other instruments. They can be played as solo guitar pieces, adapted for keyboard, divided between two instruments or expanded for larger groups.

Chord names are provided above the music, giving players a simplified accompaniment that can be used instead of, or alongside, the fully written bass lines. These chords are equally useful for a second guitarist, keyboard chord accompaniment or players wishing to provide either single-note or chordal accompaniment on another instrument.

To make the arrangements more accessible to musicians who are less accustomed to reading low ledger lines, the chord symbols correspond with the bass notes in the full notation. Where a secondary bass note is shown for example D/F# the note after the slash indicates the bass note used at that point. Accompanists can choose whether or not to incorporate these additional notes.

A modest amount of fingering and other guidance is included for solo guitarists, while the arrangements deliberately leave room for individual interpretation. Rather than imposing fixed harmonies, Keith Hinchliffe's approach allows players to adapt and fill out the music according to their instrument, ability and chosen combination of players.
