More Airs for Pairs is the second collection in the Airs for Pairs series, featuring 21 traditional and traditionally inspired tunes from Britain and Ireland, arranged for two melody instruments.

Following the first volume's selection of widely known traditional favourites, this collection combines more of the core British and Irish repertoire with interesting older melodies and some more recent compositions written in traditional styles. The selection places slightly greater emphasis on slower tunes, providing a varied and contrasting companion to the original Airs for Pairs.

Each harmony has been written with musical interest as the priority rather than being deliberately easy or difficult. Suggested violin bowings are included throughout, while players familiar with the different traditional styles are free to adapt the bowing, phrasing and interpretation to suit their own approach. Although particularly suited to violins, the music can be played on other melody instruments, with repertoire drawing on piping and harping traditions as well as fiddle music.

The arrangements are designed to be flexible in performance. Tunes can be introduced solo or in unison before adding the harmony part, or players can swap melody and harmony on subsequent repeats. Individual tunes work equally well on their own or can be combined into medleys of similar or contrasting character.

Chord symbols are provided throughout for optional accompaniment on guitar, piano or another chordal instrument. The arrangements work perfectly well as unaccompanied duets, although rhythmic accompaniment can provide useful additional support, particularly for less experienced players.
