John Kirkpatrick Garrick's Delight CD

John Kirkpatrick Garrick's Delight CD features performances of around half of the 101 traditional English dance tunes collected in John Kirkpatrick's English Choice.

Specially recorded to accompany the book, the album gives players the opportunity to hear the tunes performed by John Kirkpatrick on a fascinating selection of squeeze-boxes. Across the recording he plays three-row Casali B/C/C? accordion, two-row Hohner D/G melodeon, various Hohner one-row melodeons and Crabb G/C Anglo concertina.

John is joined by his son Benji Kirkpatrick, who provides accompaniment on six-string guitar, twelve-string guitar and bouzouki. Together they bring out the strong rhythms and distinctive character of the English traditional dance repertoire represented in the collection.

The CD is an ideal companion to John Kirkpatrick's English Choice, allowing musicians to hear the tunes as performed by John, follow the notation in the book and play along at their own pace. Together with the separately available Orlando's Return CD, it provides performances of all 101 tunes featured in the book.
