English Country Dance Tunes

English Country Dance Tunes, compiled by Dave Mallinson, brings together 101 traditional tunes selected particularly for country dancing, ceilidhs, barn dances and other traditional dance settings.

The collection forms part of Dave Mallinson's series of traditional tune books and provides musicians with a practical repertoire suitable for both playing at dances and joining traditional music sessions. The tunes are presented in progressive order of difficulty, helping players expand their repertoire as their confidence and ability develop.

All 101 tunes use a range of just 14 notes, making the collection accessible to a wide variety of traditional melody instruments. The range fits comfortably within instruments such as fiddle, wooden flute and tin whistle, while also being particularly suitable for the D/G melodeon.

Music is presented in treble clef with chord symbols. The suggested chords provide a useful basis for accompaniment while allowing musicians to adapt them to suit their own playing style or ensemble.
