Airs for Pairs is a collection of 21 popular traditional melodies from Britain and Ireland, bringing together a varied selection of dance tunes and song airs arranged for two melody instruments.

Each tune is presented with a harmony part for a second player, together with optional chord symbols for accompaniment on guitar, piano or another chordal instrument. With the exception of College Hornpipe, the harmony parts do not descend below middle C, making the arrangements accessible to a particularly wide range of melody instruments, including recorders.

The collection reflects the rich traditional music that has survived alongside other musical forms and continues to be played and enjoyed today. Players are encouraged to approach the written notation as a starting point for performance, adding ornamentation and individual interpretation appropriate to their instrument and musical style.
